Former Eureka basketball standout Kaylee Murphy has been included among the all-West Region selections after an outstanding sophomore season playing at UC Santa Cruz.
Murphy, who graduated Eureka in 2018, was named on the d3hoops.com Division-III Third-Team All-West Region team on Tuesday.
The former Logger enjoyed a record-breaking campaign and is just the second Banana Slug ever to be named all-region.
Murphy smashed her own single season school record with 319 rebounds this past winter, topping the old mark she set as a freshman (240).
Her 12.3 rebounds a game was the 13th best in the nation, while she also scored 13.2 points a game with 13 double-doubles.
She is now fifth in career rebounds and second in career blocks at UCSC in just two seasons.
“I’m shocked and surprised, but thankful for the award,” Murphy told the school website. “Last season we played a lot of great teams, and a lot of amazing individual players. This is great motivation to continue to grow in the next two years! I’m glad I especially get to do that at UCSC with my talented teammates, and gritty coaches.”
