The Corsairs pushed perennial GVC contenders Feather River all the way in game one of Wednesday’s softball doubleheader at College of the Redwoods, but ended up losing both games in both teams’ conference openers.
CR fell 4-3 and 8-1.
In game one, the home team battled back to tie the score twice, in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings, but the visitors scored the winning run in the top of the seventh and were able to hold on.
Karyn Jensen had a big day at the plate for CR, finishing 4-for-6 over the two games with an RBI in each.
Amy Reyes hit a double in each game, while Lindsey Scott took both losses in the circle, allowing zero walks on the day while striking out one batter in each game.
The Corsairs, who are now 9-10 on the season and 0-2 in conference, committed a pair of errors in each game.
Sadie Wilkinson also had a hit in each game, including a double and an RBI in the opener, while Jaycee Morais and Shawnau Johnson each also had a base hit.
Feather River improved to 9-10-1 and 2-0.
The Corsairs play a doubleheader at Siskiyous next Wednesday.
