Del Norte senior Omar Banuelos has been named MVP of the Big 5 for boys basketball.

The award was announced at the team’s recent end-of-season awards night.

Banuelos enjoyed a stellar campaign for the Warriors, playing a pivotal role in their successful season, which saw them win both the Big 5 and the Dick Niclai tournament.

Del Norte lost just twice all season in 25 games and was unbeaten against North Coast opposition.

Banuelos wasn’t the only Warrior honored, with seniors Anthony Slayton and Kobe Mitchell both also named to the Big 5 all-league team.

Kaleb Price, Judson Pincombe and Damian Dowd, each of whom also played a major role in this year’s success, were all named all-league honorable mentions.

The Warriors also announced the winners of a pair of team awards.

Mitchell was named Mr. Defense, and Alex Dodson was named Mr. Warrior.

The H-DNL has not yet released the complete list of all-league selections.
