Humboldt State will hold a celebration of life for Evelyn Andrews on Sunday at 3 p.m., after the Lumberjacks softball player passed away earlier this week.

Andrews was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2017 while still at Davis High, but beat the cancer and came to Humboldt State after graduation, red shirting with the softball team in 2019.

While playing fall softball, however, Andrews was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia, a secondary blood cancer that is a direct result of the treatment for her lymphoma.

She battled the disease for the past several months, but passed away earlier this week after suffering a clotting complication common in AML patients.

She was surrounded by family and friends and passed away cancer free, beating the disease twice.

Friends, family and teammates are encouraged to come celebrate Evelyn’s life on Sunday and share stories

The event will be held in the Hall of Fame Area of Lumberjack Arena.
