It’s arguably the most exciting week of the season for prep basketball here on the North Coast with the Dick Niclai tournaments set to get under way on Monday.
And the field has been set for the boys tournament, with the top three teams from the Big 5 and the top three from the Little 4 all included.
The Del Norte Warriors are the No. 1 seed from the Big 5 and will be favored to add a Niclai title to the Big 5 championship they won this past week, although Arcata will be out to upset the odds and gain a measure of revenge for a tough loss in a thrilling showdown between the two teams on Tuesday.
Will they meet again in Friday’s tournament championship, or can St. Bernard’s or Eureka crash the party, or perhaps even South Fork or Ferndale.
