On Saturday night, the Loggers and Crusaders faced off in boys basketball at St. Bernard’s, and once again the atmosphere did not disappoint.

The game itself was an entertaining affair, with the Eureka boys pulling away in the second half on the way to a 51-38 win.

And it was played in front of a packed house, with a large contingent of Loggers fans clearly up for the occasion.

As St. Bernard’s head coach Steve Thrap said afterwards, “we definitely had them nervous for a couple of quarters.”

But as the visitors began to pull away in the second half, the visiting fans found their collective voice, adding to the atmosphere.

The game was played just one week after the St. Bernard’s girls knocked off the Loggers at Eureka High, in another game that was played in front of a loud and enthusiastic crowd that both teams described as special.

Like I said, when these two schools get together, they do it well, both on and off the court.
