By Ray Hamill — After their surprise loss at Shasta over the weekend, the Corsairs dropped two spots to No. 15 in the latest coaches state poll in men’s basketball.
As of Tuesday afternoon, no updated women’s poll has been released yet this week, with the College of the Redwoods women ranked No. 18 in the state last week before comfortably winning on the road at Shasta on Saturday.
Despite their loss, the CR men are 4-1 in conference play (17-4 overall) and remain a game and a half clear in the Golden Valley Conference standings at the halfway stage.
Butte, Shasta and Feather River are all 2-2 and deadlocked in a tie for second.
The Corsairs play just one game this week, at home to Lassen on Saturday afternoon, and will host three of their final five conference games.
A conference championship will likely secure a home playoff game, regardless of the rankings.
