The College of the Redwoods women got back to winning ways quickly with an impressive 88-67 victory over a ranked Siskiyous team at CR on Wednesday night.
The Corsairs, who are ranked No. 18 in California and No. 11 in NorCal in the latest state poll released on Wednesday morning, are now 3-1 in the Golden Valley Conference.
And all three conference wins have come against teams ranked in the top-15 in NorCal.
Their only GVC loss came on Saturday against another ranked team — Lassen (No. 9 in NorCal) — but they immediately put that defeat behind them in front of a big home crowd on Wednesday.
The Corsairs started slow and trailed 11-4 in the opening quarter, but quickly found their rhythm and gradually pulled away from the visitors.
Two players, in particular, gave the CR women a big boost off the bench.

CR’s Ashley Quigley
“Theresia Dickey ad Brianna Green, I felt, came in and had a burst of energy for us,” head coach Jain Tuey said. “That definitely helped us get going.”
Dennise Horton and Juliana Ortega-Miranda each also were instrumental in the win with dominating performances inside, in what was a well-balanced team performance with five different players scoring in double digits.
“We just ran our stuff and were disciplined in what we were doing,” Tuey added. “And Siskiyous couldn’t handle it.”

CR’s Brianna Green gave her teammates a lift off the bench on Wednesday.
Horton scored a team-high 17 points for CR, which improved to 15-4 overall, while the ever-dangerous Ashley Quigley added 16 points to continue her outstanding season.
Ortega-Miranda finished with 14 points, Darienne Kartes 13 and Dickey 12.
“It was really a collective group effort,” the head coach said.
The CR women play at Shasta on Saturday at 3 p.m.
