By Ray Hamill — St. Bernard’s teammates Lane Thrap and Cole Petrusha both celebrated their 18th birthday on Friday, as the Crusaders cruised to another win in basketball.
Both players played a part as St. Bernard’s comfortably took care of the Ferndale Wildcats 61-39 to go to 2-0 in the Little 4 and 10-5 overall.
It was the team’s fifth straight win.
For Thrap, it was a particularly sweet birthday after he was named to the Prep2Prep all-North Coast Section first team in football earlier in the day.
The senior capped the day with a big performance in the basketball game, finishing with 14 points.
Bode Joyner also had a big game for the Crusaders, scoring a team-high 18 points.
