Jacks come up short at Cal State LA

Both Humboldt State basketball teams dropped games at Cal State LA on Saturday, with the women falling 80-74 and the men losing 81-74.

The HSU men are now 3-9 in the CCAA and 7-10 overall.

Isaiah Pope led the Jacks for the second straight game, scoring 19 points and dishing out a team-best five assists.

Jackson Strong added 17 points and seven rebounds, while Robert Lewis scored 16.

The HSU women, meanwhile, lost their fourth straight game.

Tyra Turner scored a team-high 17 points as four players finished in double-digits for HSU, which is now 5-7 in conference and 9-8 overall.

Gabrielle Carbajal and Madeline Hatch each scored 15 in the loss, while Alexia Thrower added 14 points.

Both HSU teams will try to get back on track when they host Cal State East Bay at Lumberjack Arena next Thursday.
