By Ray Hamill — The excitement is building in Crescent City ahead of Saturday night’s state championship football game, with online tickets already sold out by Thursday evening.
Fans can still buy tickets at the gate, but they’re being advised to get there early with a huge crowd expected for what will be the first-ever state championship game played in the county.
“It’s Crescent City’s Super Bowl,” Del Norte head coach Nick White said. “Everybody will be there. It’s going to be (a case of) show up super early and try to get into the game.”
White is in his first year as head coach of the team, but has served as an assistant with the program for much of the past decade and has lived in the area for several years.
And he says he has never seen an occasion to excite the community this much.
“It’s the biggest game that’s ever been in Crescent City,” the head coach said. “We’re expecting a huge crowd.”
The Warriors are 13-1 and will play unbeaten El Monte, which comes into the clash at 15-0.
Kick off is set for 6 p.m.
