Friends and family of former Hoopa High and Humboldt Eagles baseball standout Gary Young have set up a GoFundMe campaign to help with medical and other expenses after he passed away this week from cancer.

Young, who was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 17th round of the MLB Draft after graduating Hoopa in 1986, was only recently diagnosed with the disease.

The GoFundMe page can be accessed here.

Young was also drafted by the Montreal Expos in both 1988 and 1989.

He played four years at Hoopa High and three summers for the Humboldt Eagles.
