By Ray Hamill — The South Fork Cubs are eager to get the football playoffs under way.
After seeing their regular-season finale cancelled when Tomales opted out of a trip to Miranda at the last minute this weekend, South Fork head coach Karl Terrell doesn’t want to wait three weeks in between games.
And with none of the eight-person NCS teams needing an extra week to make up league games, he sees no reason why they should all have to wait, especially with basketball practice beginning this coming week.
“It puts a burden on the smaller schools,” Terrell said.
The NCS announced on Wednesday that the start of the playoffs would be pushed back one week to allow the teams affected by the recent wild fires and power outages a chance to complete their league schedules.
But Terrell says none of the eight-person programs have been affected, and while the NCS decision is a good thing for the other seven divisions, it’s not necessary for the smaller programs.
“In eight man playoffs there’s no state, and right now everyone’s done playing,” he said. “I don’t want to wait another two weeks to play. It just kills practice, it kills the interest and everything else.”
Terrell will be appealing to the NCS commissioner on Monday.
The Cubs are expected to get a three seed and should have at least one home playoff game.

To hell with any pos school sports team and program when they opt out of a commitment because they don’t want to hit the road…
…this is partly why CIF-NCS is a crock full of poo doo…and they should be put on suspension for a season…bunch of petty puds…
