By Ray Hamill — The wildfires in Sonoma County forced the postponement of Monday’s North Coast Section Division-I girls golf tournament, and it’s not the only NCS action affected this week.
The expected power outages on Tuesday and Wednesday have also pushed back some of the playoff volleyball action involving H-DNL teams.
The golf tournament, which was scheduled to take place at Rohnert Park, has now been moved to Wednesday at Lone Tree in Antioch.
Arcata’s Avery Henry and McKinleyville’s Phoebe and Isabella Sundberg are all scheduled to compete.
The NCS volleyball playoffs are also scheduled to begin this week, although many of the games have already been pushed back.
Big 5 champion Arcata is the No. 8 seed in the Division-IV bracket and will open at home against No. 9 St. Mary’s.
The game was scheduled for Wednesday night but is unlikely to take place with no power. No make-up date has been officially set yet, although Thursday may work.
St Bernard’s is now scheduled to open at home on Thursday night at 7 p.m., against No. 11 Anderson Valley in Division-VI action.
St. Bernard’s is the No. 6 seed.
No. 10 McKinleyville is scheduled to open on the road at No. 7 St. Joseph-Notre Dame in Division IV on Wednesday night, while No. 13 Ferndale will open on the road against No. 4 California Crosspoint in Division VI at Chabot College, also on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
