Ray Hamill/HumboldtSports.com – The Ferndale Wildcats are ranked No. 4 in NCS Division 7, according to MaxPreps.

By Ray Hamill — As far as the MaxPreps NCS rankings have gone, it certainly has been a rollercoaster of a season so far for the Eureka Loggers.

They’ve been the biggest local movers, one way or the other, almost every week, and are at it again this week, moving up two spots to No. 5 in Division 5.

The Loggers (2-3) have won two straight games to leave them positioned comfortably in the top eight in their division, at least according to MaxPreps.

In the same division, Del Norte (4-1) drops one spot to No. 3 after a loss at Mazama on Friday night, while Fortuna drops one spot to No. 9 after a bye.

In Division 6, St. Bernard’s (5-0) is back up to No. 2, switching places with Justin-Siena after one week down at No. 3

Arcata (2-2) also moves up two spots to No. 10 in Division 6 after the Tigers’ second straight win.

In Division 7, Ferndale (2-2) remains at No. 4 despite losing to St. Bernard’s, while Hoopa drops two spots to No. 11 despite posting a first win at home to Trinity.

McKinleyvile, which had a bye this past weekend, moves up one spot to No. 14 in the same division.

  1. Jesus H Christ, how many divisions are there going to be 10 years from now…a dozen or more… got to create more winners, make those kids think they’re accomplishing something of significance…

Watered down competition to make upper Northwest California student-athletes think they are better than they really are… it’s so educational when student-athletes can be winners against the weakened competition…save for EHS football which decided years ago it wasn’t going to subjected student-athletes to piss poor competition knowing that a quality program requires playing better teams…
