By Ray Hamill — The McKinleyville JVs rallied for a second straight week on Friday night, pulling out a dramatic 32-22 win in football over visiting Fort Bragg at HSU’s Redwood Bowl.
The win was the third straight to start the season for the perfect Panthers, who trailed 22-6 and scored 26 unanswered points on the way to pulling out the win.
Last weekend at Willits, the McKinleyville players overcame an early two-touchdown deficit with 24 unanswered points.
The JV win, coupled with a 21-15 victory for the varsity squad, gave the Panthers a first sweep over an opponent at both levels in at least five years.
The Del Norte JVs, who are also undefeated this season at 2-0, were idle on Friday with visiting La Salle fielding only a varsity squad.
The Eureka and Fortuna JVs were also in action on Friday night, with each dropping road games.
The Loggers fell 21-6 at Foothill and are now 0-3 on the season, while the Huskies lost 14-0 to Kelseyville and are 1-2.
