Another strong showing by the local high school mountain bikers over the weekend saw them take first place as a team at the latest race of the season in Lower Lake.
Meigan Butler again led the way for the Humboldt composite team, made up of competitors from several local high schools, as the local club placed first in the Division II Composite bracket, scoring 2036 points to comfortably out-distance Gladiators Composite (1848) in second.
Butler placed second in the varsity girls race, the top showing of the day for the Humboldt club.
Teammate Elizabeth Odell also continued her strong season, placing second in the JV girls race, while Arcata’s Vivian Gerstein placed third in the sophomore race.
On the boys side, Tommy Robinson was fifth in the JV race, with teammates Ethan Hunt in 11th and Finn Tetrault 37th out of 48 riders.
In the sophomore boys race, Humboldt’s Kyle Kroeker was third, followed by teammates Dillon Earle-Rouse in sixth, Anders Johnson in ninth and River Cline in 41st.
And finally in the freshman boys race, Colton Owens placed 40th out of 52 riders.
