Bonomini, a 2017 Eureka High graduate, scored 13 points and pulled down eight rebounds in Saturday’s hard-fought 65-59 win at home to Redwoods.

The sophomore guard leads her team in scoring this season with 15 points a game.

The win lifts the Knights to 5-1 in the Golden Valley Conference, half a game ahead of Siskiyous (5-2) with four games remaining, including an all-important game at home to Siskiyous a week from Saturday.

Bonomini also features among the conference statistical leaders this season, along with a couple of CR players and former Big 5 opponents.

The Shasta sophomore is fifth in the conference in scoring and third in 3-point percentage (36.4).

Former Fortuna standout Darienne Kartes is fifth in the conference with 8.1 rebounds a game for CR, while Arcata’s Bree Northern is fifth in 3-point percentage (34.5).

The two freshmen have adapted to the collegiate game quickly at CR and have been two of the bright spots in a disappointing season for the Corsairs.
