It was an impressive start to the fall season for a group of young North Coast gymnasts last week.
The Redwood Coast Gymnastic team traveled to Redwood City to compete at the Stars Challenge on Sept. 13, and all eight girls who made the trip posted qualifying scores for the upcoming 2026 State Championships.
Competing in her first level 4 meet, Hannah Naylor turned in an exceptional performance, according to her coaches.
Naylor won the gold medal on vault in her age division with a score of 9.35, which was just shy of RCG’s Level 4 record of 9.40.
Naylor also earned bronze on bars with a 9.35 and medaled in fifth place on floor exercise (9.35).
She finished sixth in the All-Around with a score of 36.15.
Also competing at level 4, Maya Dalton posted a personal best score of 9.35 on floor exercise.
She topped the 9.0 mark on vault and recorded another personal best on bars with an 8.95.
Laura Barkdull, who moved up to level 4 just a few months ago, delivered consistent routines across all four of her events, scoring at or above 8.50 on each.
Five gymnasts represented RCG at level 3.
Abigail Clair finished with multiple personal bests, including 9.20 on vault, which secured fifth in her division, and a 9.00 on floor for seventh.
She also earned medals on balance beam, placing sixth with 8.85, and in the All-Around, where her 35.60 earned sixth place.
Zoey Long’s competition highlights included a personal best on bars, as well as a fifth-place finish on beam with an 8.95.
In their first level 3 meets, Hazel Willor earned a medal with 9.10 on vault, placing seventh, while RCG’s youngest team member, Nova Connolly, turned in strong performances in vault (9.0) and on floor (8.90).
Cara West rounded out the impressive local performances and finished just outside the medals with a score of 8.70 on beam.
Next up, the Redwood Coast gymnasts will compete at the Pink Meet Invitational in Fremont this weekend.
The state championships will take place in mid-November.
