Next week, the Eureka Loggers will finally get the opportunity to play a true home game in football when they debut at the newly-renovated Albee Stadium.
The new facility features an all-turf field and will also host boys and girls soccer games this fall.
After playing their first three games of the season at the Redwood Bowl — including this Friday’s game against Ferndale — the Loggers will finally return to one of the most iconic stadiums on the North Coast on Oct. 2.
And fittingly, the school will be hosting Homecoming that week.
The first games at the stadium, which is celebrating its centennial this year, will be against the McKinleyville Panthers.
The stadium will be open from 3:30 p.m. to allow alumni and fans check out the new facility before the games, with the Eureka and McKinleyville JVs taking the field at 5 p.m. for the first official football game on the new surface.
The varsity teams will play at 7:30 p.m.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.
The Loggers will also host football games against Fortuna (Oct. 23) and St. Bernard’s (Nov. 7) in the new facility.
