It was a tough day for the H-DNL teams on the football fields on Saturday, with two league teams in action.
The Hoopa Warriors made the long trip to Marin County to play Archie Williams and lost 48-0, while Arcata traveled to Petaluma to play St. Vincent de Paul and fell 47-0.
This was the third straight shutout loss for the Tigers, who dropped to 0-3 and have yet to score any points this season.
The home team, whose only loss this season came late against St. Bernard’s, started fast and led 14-0 after the opening quarter.
They would score 21 more points in the second quarter to carry a five-touchdown advantage into the break.
With the win, St. Vincent de Paul improved to 3-1.
Arcata will try to bounce back next weekend, when they travel to play Del Norte in Crescent City.
Hoopa, meanwhile, suffered its first shutout loss of the season and a first since losing to Ferndale in October of last year.
The Peregrine Falcons opened up a 20-point lead in the opening quarter and added 14 more points in the second to lead 34-0 at halftime.
With the win, Archie Williams improved 2-2, while Hoopa dropped to 1-2.
The Warriors will try to bounce back when they host St. Bernard’s in their first home game of the season next Thursday.
Saturday’s results contrasted heavily with Friday night’s action.
The two league teams to take the field on Friday — South Fork and Ferndale — scored a combined 146 points in their victories.
South Fork hosted Elite in eight-player football and won 94-12, while Ferndale played at Fall River and won 52-0.
Ferndale improved to 3-0, while South Fork improved to 2-1.
The St. Bernard’s Crusaders were also in action this week, traveling to Michigan to play Sacred Heart and they won 46-0 to go to 3-0.
Fortuna, McKinleyville, Eureka and Del Norte all had byes this week.
