The Humboldt Crabs welcomed the Lincoln Potters to the Arcata Ball Park this weekend and swept two games to take over sole possession of top spot in the Pacific Empire League standings.
With Healdsburg dropping one of its games against the Medford Rogues, the Prune Packers are now 6-2 in league play, while the Crabs improved to 7-2 and the Potters dropped to 6-4.
Both weekend games in Arcata were high-scoring affairs, with the Crabs winning 14-7 on Saturday and 10-2 on Sunday.
Adam Enyart continued to play a big role for the home team, hitting his team-leading sixth home run of the summer on Saturday and pitching four innings for the win on the mound on Sunday.
Enyart gave up one unearned run on one hit and six walks and struck out six.
The Crabs pitchers got plenty of support in both games, as the team bats accounted for 24 hits, including 14 in Saturday’s win.
They had two big innings, one in each game, to break the games open.
On Saturday, the Crabs scored eight runs in the bottom of the second inning to take control, and they would score seven runs in the bottom of the sixth on Sunday.
Kawana Soarers and Joe Fagan each had three hits to lead the way at the plate on Saturday, while Alex Harrington had a triple and Tyler Howard hit a pair of doubles.
Bryson Schelp got the start on the hill on Saturday and pitched five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and six walks and striking out five.
Walks were a problem for the Crabs pitchers all weekend, as they combined to issue 21 of them, including 13 on Saturday.
But they were able to compensate with a good weekend at the plate.

Jamie Mullin led the Crabs at the plate in Sunday’s win and finished 3-for-5 with three doubles.
The Crabs are now 21-3 overall, while the Potters, who had taken two of three games against the Crabs in Lincoln earlier in the month, dropped to 21-5.
Three of the Potters’ four league losses have come against the Crabs.
Next up, the Crabs will host the Bay Area Force in a two-game, midweek stand, with game one set for Tuesday night at 7.
