The Humboldt Crabs pulled away from the Marysville Giants with seven late runs on the way to an 8-1 win at the Arcata Ball Park on Tuesday night.

The Crabs scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth and added four more in the eighth to even their record in the Pacific Empire League at 2-2.

The Crabs are now 16-3 overall.

Ryan VandenBrink led a 10-hit team performance at the plate and finished 3-for-4 with an RBI, while teammate Jamie Mullin added a home run, finishing 1-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Aidan Dorsch got the start on the mound and threw two innings for a no decision.

The former St. Bernard’s Crusader gave up one earned run on one hit and one walk and struck out five.

Evan Miranda pitched four scoreless innings in relief, allowing two hits and striking out seven.

Four Crabs pitchers combined for 16 strikeouts and the team played errorless defense.

The pitchers got plenty of offensive support, as the Crabs out-hit the Giants 10-6.

Tyler Howard had a triple in the win, while teammates Jason Arriola and Everet Johnson each had a double.

The Giants dropped to 1-8 in league play and 1-8 overall.

The two teams will continue a five-game league series with a doubleheader on Wednesday night, with game one set for 5:30 p.m.
