By Ray Hamill — A busy few weeks for youth baseball here on the North Coast kicks off this weekend, with the district Senior and Junior tournament of champions.

The action gets under way with six games at various locations around the county on Saturday.

Both championship games will take place at the Arcata Ball Park on Monday.

This year’s Senior TOC features eight teams from around the county, including defending champion, McKinleyville’s Evans Mechanical.

The tournament will feature eight teams, with round one on Saturday, followed by the semifinals on Sunday.

The opening round features two games in McKinleyville.

The action gets under way at 11 a.m. when McKinleyville New Wave plays the Redwood Empire Angels, followed by McKinleyville’s A&L and the Redwood Empire Giants at 2 p.m.

Also on Saturday, at the Redwood Fields in Cutten, the Redwood Empire Rangers will face off against McKinleyville’s Evans Mechanical, with first pitch set for 11 a.m.

And rounding out a busy day for the local senior league teams, the Eel River Batmen will play Arcata in Fortuna at 5 p.m.

Monday’s senior championship game will be played at 7 p.m.

In Junior tournament action, four teams will play for the 2026 championship, with two semifinals on Saturday.

In Miranda, the Southern Humboldt Hawks will play the Eel River Giants, while in Fortuna, the Eel River A’s will play the Klamath Trinity Bulls.

Both of those games start at 11 .m.

Monday’s Junior TOC championship game takes place at 4 p.m.

A very busy June for the local youth teams will also feature the district Majors TOC, as well as several all-stars tournaments.

The Majors TOC will be hosted by Arcata and gets under way on June 6.

The 10U All-Stars district tournament will be hosted by Southern Humboldt and begins on June 20, while the 11U All-Stars will play for the district title at McKinleyville, with that tournament also beginning on June 20.

The 12U All-Stars district tournament will be hosted by Redwood Empire and gets under way on June 27, while the Juniors district All-Stars tournament will be hosted Eel River and begins on June 17.
