Annika Dieker and Abigail Claire led the way this past weekend for the Redwood Coast Gymnastics team, which closed out the spring Xcel Silver season at the NorCal State Championships in Fairfield.
The two local gymnasts each captured gold on vault in their divisions, scoring 9.45 and 9.425, respectively, and setting new team records in the event at the Xcel Silver level.
Cara West also impressed in the event with a fourth-place finish, scoring a 9.0.
On the uneven bars, top scores for the team went to Dieker and Zoey Long, who each posted a 9.2, with West close behind at 9.1.
Laura Barkdull successfully competed a kip mount, one of only a handful gymnasts at the silver level to attempt the skill.
The team continued its strong showing on floor exercise.
Long led the local club with a 9.45, placing fourth place and setting a new team record on floor for Xcel Silver.
Dieker followed with a 9.3 and finished in fifth, while Claire earned a 9.225.
In the all around competition, Dieker set a personal best score of 36.95, setting a new Xcel Silver team record and finishing just off the podium in fourth place.
Long also recorded a personal best with a 36.65.
The Redwood Gymnastics Xcel Silver team now enters the offseason, where athletes focus on developing new skills ahead of the Fall 2026 season.
The previous weekend, Level 6 gymnast Momo Baxter competed at the Totally Awesome 80’s meet in Rohnert Park and placed in the top three in multiple events, earning silver on vault (9.4) and bronze on bars (9.1) and floor (9.325).
She also took the bronze in all-around with a 36.075.
Also at the Totally Awesome 80’s meet, three pre-team gymnasts had the opportunity to test the competitive waters.
Annahi Morales Hernandez, Hazel Willor and Nova Connolly competed for the first time, performing admirably, according to their coaches, and gaining valuable experience for the future.
