NFL receivers coach to serve as guest speaker at annual CPH fundraiser

Cal Poly Humboldt Athletics

The 40th annual Cal Poly Humboldt Athletics Auction will take place on Saturday, April 11.

The annual fundraiser will be held at the Sapphire Palace inside Blue Lake Casino, beginning at 6 p.m., and this year’s event will feature former Lumberjack Robert Prince as guest speaker.

Prince was as a walk-on wide receiver and mathematics major at Cal Poly Humboldt before graduating in 1989 and has more than 30 years of collegiate and NFL coaching experience.

The current Atlanta Falcons wide receivers coach also has spent time coaching with the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins, and he has coached standout receivers such as CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks.

Prince credits Humboldt for shaping both his professional philosophy and personal values.

His approach to coaching extends beyond Xs and Os, focusing on mentorship, leadership, and helping young men grow both on and off the field.

“Helping a guy succeed, that’s kind of the thrill of coaching,” he said in a press release announcing this year’s fundraiser. “It’s about making people better. Helping players become better men, better teammates, and better versions of themselves.

“Hard work doesn’t guarantee success, but it gives you the best opportunity for it. I learned that at Humboldt.”

Tickets for this year’s fundraiser are $125 for an individual or $900 for a table of eight.
