The Cal Poly Humboldt women’s basketball team has qualified for this year’s California Collegiate Athletic Association tournament with four games to spare.
On Saturday afternoon, the Jacks stretched their winning streak to four straight games with a 61-53 win over San Francisco State at Lumberjack Arena.
The Jacks, who defeated Cal State East Bay 101-63 on Thursday, improved to 14-4 in the CCAA and 16-8 overall.
They are tied with Chico State for third in the conference standings, four wins clear of fifth-placed Dominguez Hills.
Humboldt and Chico remain one win behind second-placed Cal State Los Angeles.
Jordyn Smith had a double-double in Saturday’s win, finishing with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
The Cal Poly Humboldt men were also in action on Saturday, defeating San Francisco 72-60.
With the win, the Jacks improved to 11-7 in conference and 13-7 overall.
The victory ended a four-game losing streak, including an 88-84 overtime loss to the No. 2 team in the nation — unbeaten Cal State East Bay (24-0) — on Thursday night.
The Humboldt men are third in the CCAA.
Both Humboldt teams will be back in action at Cal State San Bernardino on Thursday night.
The two College of the Redwoods basketball teams will also be in action this coming week when they close out conference play at home against Lassen on Monday afternoon.
The women take the court at 1 p.m., followed by the men at 3.
It will be Sophomore Day for both teams.
