The Fortuna Huskies enjoyed a good week on the wrestling mats, while making a little bit of school history.
The Fortuna girls and boys teams faced off against Eureka and Ferndale in a three-way dual meet and the gils team recorded a first-ever victory over the Loggers.
The Huskies defeated Eureka 45-30 and also got the better of Ferndale by a score of 54-6.
Camila Meijia, Serenity Anderson, Metzli Chinas, Tiffany Krause, Ashten Moore, Natasha Lanza, Bella Mora and Myla Kirk all won their individual matches against the Eureka girls, while Allison Watson won by forfeit.
A busy Lanza also won her individual match against Ferndale, while six other Huskies won by forfeit against a smaller Wildcats roster.
The Fortuna boys also faced off against Eureka and Ferndale, splitting the two league matches.
The Huskies fell 49-30 to Eureka, but got the better of Ferndale by a score of 65-18.
Tyson Evanow, Mason Cahill, Jack Chipman, Brayden Timmerman and Jonathan Glass all won their individual matches for the boys team against the Loggers.
The Huskies took six matches against the Wildcats, with victories for Evanow, Chipman, Timmerman, Thoren Weeks, Mason Tlown and Tiki Bolden.
The Huskies won six additional matches by forfeit.
No details were available for the Loggers or Wildcats.
Many of the H-DNL schools will be in action at the Eureka tournament this weekend, as all nine programs continue their preparation for the upcoming league championships, which will be held this year at Cal Poly Humboldt’s Lumberjack Arena.
