By Ray Hamill — It was a fun start to the Big 5 in boys basketball on Tuesday night, with big wins for Del Norte and McKinleyville.

The Panthers won a key matchup against a Eureka team that many feel can win this year’s conference championship by a score of 73-67, while the Del Norte Warriors welcomed Arcata to Crescent City and won a thriller 62-61 with Justin Cushmann nailing a game-winning 3-point buzzer-beater as time expired.
