The Lumberjacks remain in the chase for a California Collegiate Athletic Association tournament championship in women’s soccer after qualifying for this week’s semifinals.

Barely.

A scheduled quarterfinal at Cal State San Bernardino on Sunday was pushed back to Monday because of darkness, and when the two teams finally played there was little to separate them.

The game ended in a 0-0 tie, before the Cal Poly Humboldt women won on penalty kicks, 4-3.

That sets up a semifinal against Cal Poly Pomona, the top-ranked team on the West Coast, on Friday.

The tournament semifinals and final will be played at Cal State Monterey Bay.

Friday’s game is set for 7:30 p.m.

The tournament championship will take place on Sunday.

Stanislaus State and Chico State will play in the other semifinal.
