The defending Big 5 champs are preparing to help out some young players in the community as they get set for upcoming tryouts.

Arcata girls basketball coach Charlie Espinoza and some of his players will host a two-day clinic for middle school players in October.

The clinic will be held on back-to-back Saturdays, on Oct. 11 and 18.

“We will be focusing on sharpening skills for girls getting ready for their upcoming middle school tryouts,” Espinoza said. “Any girl sixth grade through eighth grade is invited.”

The clinic will run from noon to 4 p.m. on both days at a cost of $200.

All proceeds will go towards supporting the Arcata High girls program.
