By Ray Hamill — Congratulations once again to the 2025 Humboldt Sports Little 4 co-Girls Athlete of the Year Laila Florvilus.

The recent St. Bernard’s graduate, who has committed to play two sports at Chico State, was back in town for the Crusaders homecoming festivities last weekend and was presented with her trophy before the school’s varsity football game against Hoopa.

Florvilus was a multi-sport athlete during her time at St. Bernard’s and was a three-time Little 4 MVP in basketball and a two-time Humboldt Sports Player of the Year.

She also led the Crusaders to a first-ever state championship in the sport as a junior and to a first-ever Dick Niclai Tournament championship as a senior.

Florvilus also was a standout track and field athlete for St. Bernard’s and will compete in both basketball and track and field at Chico State.

She says she is settling in well at Chico and enjoying her time there.

Florvilus was named co-athlete of the year along with Ferndale’s Tinnley Pidgeon.

And once again, a big shoutout to this year’s award sponsors, which includes Mendes Supply Company, Bode Construction, DelReka Distributing and The Humboldt Fence Company.
