Huskies perfect going into league after tourney win at Upper Lake

The Fortuna High boys soccer team continued to roll over the weekend, closing out their pre-league schedule by winning the Upper Lake tournament.

The Huskies won their semifinal on Friday night, defeating Fort Bragg 2-0, and they followed that with a 3-1 win over Kelseyville on Saturday.

With the tournament wins, the Fortuna boys stretched their unbeaten run to start the season and improved to 9-0.

“Hats off to the boys, playing through some injuries and filling some roles,” head coach Daniel Holmes said.

The coach praised the play of Danny Cortes, who “played really well for us.”

The Huskies will now turn their attention to league play, with the 2025 H-DNL schedule kicking off on Wednesday.

Fortuna opens against South Fork in Miranda at 6 p.m.

In other league games on Wednesday, Arcata plays at McKinleyville and Del Norte travels to play Eureka at Washington Field.

Both of those games are set for 4 p.m.
