
Cal Poly Humboldt Athletics
The Cal Poly Humboldt women’s volleyball team will fly out to Hawaii to begin the new season this week.
The Jacks will compete at the Hawaii Challenge and will play four matches in three days across Honolulu.
The Lumberjacks open against Chaminade on Thursday at 6 p.m. Pacific Time, before facing UCCS and Hawaii Hilo on Friday.
The tournament wraps up Saturday with the Jacks playing Hawaii Pacific at noon.
Cal Poly Humboldt begins the new season with one of the youngest rosters in the California Collegiate Athletic Association and is ranked No. 10 in the coaches preseason poll.
The team feature 13 newcomers, including 11 freshmen, alongside a group of key returners in senior Sophia Spoja, junior Graysen Trupp, and sophomores Hollis Downing, Amelia Perla, Sadie Scott and Brielle Wilson.
Head coach Angela Spoja begins her fourth year at the helm.
Last year the Jacks were 8-18 overall and 4-145 in conference.
