Brandon White wins big NorCal Legends race at Redwood Acres

Local motor sports fans were treated to an exciting finish over the weekend as the NorCal Legends made their second appearance of the summer at the Redwood Acres Raceway.

The second to last racing night of the season was a busy one, with the Mid-City Motor World Late Models, bombers, Jr. Legends, mini stocks and the Eel River Transportation & Salvage Dirt 4 Bangers also in action.

But it was the NorCal Legends that was the highlight race of the night, and it did not disappoint.

Brandon White took the checkered flag, edging Trey Daniels by just 1.3 seconds for the victory.

Series points leader Cody Winchel, who set fast time for the night, took third, followed by Aiden Daniels in fourth and Kai Lovell in fifth.

In Late Models action, the speedy Luke Hall once again set fast time with a 15.624 in qualifying. 

Fans held their breath during the heat race when Romeo Venza and Brandon Barnwell both hit the wall hard in turn one, but fortunately both drivers were unharmed. 

Hall took the heat race victory.

The 45-lap main event was neck and neck early on with Hall and Jerry Peterson battling for control.

Hall would take the win, followed by Peterson ins second, Melanie Schmitt in third, Christian Sanchez in fourth and Barnwell in fifth while using a back-up car.

In the bomber division, Ryan Walters made his first start of the season and was fastest in qualifying with an 18.292. 

Jimmy Sorrels took the win in the 15-lap main event, followed by Kimberley Rojas in second, T.J. Sorrels in third, Walters in fourth and Chris Sarvinski in fifth.

In the Jr. Legends, Phoenix Venza had a dominating night, taking victories in both the heat race and main event.

Jarrett Mayo’s 18.957 was fastest in mini stock qualifying and he was also victorious in the heat race and main event, edging Garrett Wheeler for the checkered flag.

In the Dirt 4 Bangers, Gene O’Dell and Cody Caylor took the heat race wins. 

David Furia took the victory in the 20-lap main event, with O’Dell second, followed by Colton Kinsey, Wayne Hunt and Robert Reddick.

The 2025 season at the local raceway will conclude on Sept. 20 with the Steve Taylor Memorial Fall Spectacular.
