Only two race nights remain on the 2025 schedule for Redwood Acres Raceway, including this Saturday’s event presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts.

It should be another night full of thrills and excitement with the NorCal Legend Series visiting the local track for the second time this year.

The Mid-City Motor World Late Models will also be racing, along with the bombers, Jr. Legends, mini stocks and the Eel River Transportation & Salvage Dirt 4 Bangers.

Saturday night’s NorCal Legend Series race is a designated National Qualifying race for the INEX Asphalt Nationals that will be held at The Bullring At Las Vegas Motor Speedway in late October.

The series’ first visit to Redwood Acres Raceway in May produced a turnout of 28 cars, and with qualifying positions on the line for the national event this week another strong car count is expected this weekend.

Sebastapol’s Cody Winchel is the current points leader for the NorCal Legends and holds a 12-point advantage over Ukiah’s Kai Lovell.

Trey Daniels from Fort Bragg is third in the standings, 25 points behind Winchel.

Local favorite, Brandon White of Eureka, won the May 17 NorCal Legend race and is fourth, 30 points behind Winchel.

Fort Bragg’s Kylie Daniels rounds out the top five, 106 points off the lead.

Brandon Barnwell’s four victories this summer have him atop the standings in the Mid-City Motor World Late Model division.

Jerry Peterson won the most recent race on August 16 and is 52 points behind Barnwell in second.

Joe Bonomini is third in the standings followed by Romeo Venza and Ryun Leazer.

T.J. Sorrels leads his father Jimmy Sorrels by 47 points in the bomber division, while Garrett Wheeler and Phoenix Venza lead the standings for the mini stocks and Jr. Legends, respectively.

The Eel River Transportation & Salvage Dirt 4 Bangers have had an interesting mix of new and veteran drivers in the first two races for the division.

Newcomer “Thunder Hawk” won the inaugural main event on July 26 while veteran driver David Furia won the most recent feature on August 16.

An open practice is scheduled for Friday from 5 to 9 p.m.

On Saturday, the grandstands open at 3 p.m., with the racing getting under way at 5 p.m.

Pre-sale tickets for Saturday’s action are available at Don’s Rent-All in Eureka, JC Auto in Fortuna, McKinleyville Barbershop in McKinleyville and on RacinTheAcres.com.
