Jerry Peterson held off a late challenge from Brandon Barnwell on his way to victory in Late Models action at the Redwood Acres Raceway last week.
Some early wet weather didn’t dampen the excitement as the season begins to wind down, with two races now remaining on the summer schedule.
Leon’s Car Care Center presented the evening’s wall-to-wall action as the Mid-City Motor World Late Models headlined the event.
Legends, bombers, limited modifieds, Jr. Legends, mini stocks and the Eel River Transportation & Salvage Dirt 4 Bangers also took to the track.
But it was Peterson who stole the show, taking the checkered flag in the Late Models main event and ending a five-race winning streak for the season-leader Barnwell, including the first four main events of the 2025 season.
It was also a good night for Luke Hall, who lowered his own track record in the Late Models, with a time of 15.541 breaking the 15.595 time he set in May of this season.
Barnwell placed second in the 65-lap main event, with Joe Bonomini third, Dane Nissen fourth and Romeo Venza fifth.
The Legends main event, meanwhile, went right down to the wire, with Landen Green barely edging Michael Moses for the checkered flag, followed by Chris Lawrence, Scott Taylor and Agna Zayne.
Moses set fast time in qualifying with a quick time of 17.595. while Green was the heat race winner.
A busy Hall was quickest in the limited modifieds with a 16.805 in qualifying, while David Furia won the heat race.
Hall also took the main event victory over Furia, Gene O’Dell and Christian Sanchez.
The Eel River Transportation & Salvage Dirt 4 Bangers returned for the second time in 2025, with Furia and Gene O’Dell taking the heat race wins.
The same two drivers battled for the checkered flag in the 15-lap main, with Furia taking the victory.
Brian Murrell, Jr., Brett Murrell and Colton Kinsey rounded out the top five.
T.J. Sorrels dominated the night for the bombers, setting fast time with an 18.760 and winning the heat race and main event.
It was the same for Phoenix Venza in the Jr. Legends.
Fast time was 21.173, while Venza followed up with wins in the heat and main.
Garrett Wheeler also swept the night in the mini stocks, pacing qualifying with a 20.149 and also taking the heat race and main event victories.
Only two races remain on the schedule for Redwood Acres Raceway for 2025.
The NorCal Legend Series will join the Mid-City Motor World Late Models, bombers, Jr. Legends, mini stocks and the Eel River Transportation & Salvage Dirt 4 Bangers on Aug. 30.
