The Humboldt Composite Mountain Bike Team (HCMTB) recently closed out the 2025 season at the NorCal championship race.

The event, which took place on May 17 and 18, was held at the Six Sigma Winery in Lake County and capped a five-race season series.

The event featured top-placing racers from both Redwood-Repack and Central-East Bay divisions.

Eleven racers from the composite school team tackled a technical course with determination in the supportive, yet competitive racing climate.

HCMTB, which was representing local middle and high schools, placed eighth overall out of 33 composite school teams attending the event.

The middle school riders kicked off racing on Saturday.

Humboldt’s Jade Lysander capped a very impressive season by placing second in a competitive field of 52 riders in the sixth-grade boys race, while Skylar Sabo-Shumpert finished eighth in a field of 18 sixth-grade girls.

Sixth-grader Tucker Perez (49th) and eighth-grader Drew Brady (89th) rounded out the local contingent of middle schoolers in action.

The high school riders competed on Sunday.

For Humboldt, Dinon McIntosh placed 29th in the competitive varsity category, and JV2 racer Grayden Larson followed with a 12th-place finish.

Evelyn Seemann placed 32nd in the JV1 girls race, while Ambrose Kone overcame a mechanical issue and finished 71st in the freshman category.

Rounding out the day, JV1 rider Bela Randles placed eighth in a competitive field, and Asa Jules and Nolan Kavanaugh finished 46th and 65th, respectively, in the same race.

HCMTB’s Evelyn Seemann contributed to this report.
