H-DNL releases inaugural league All-Sportsmanship Team

Del Norte’s Tsinte Steinruck is one of 10 student-athletes who have been named on this year’s HDN All-Sportsmanship Team.

The H-DN Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) is continuing to do its best to promote good sportsmanship among the league schools.

This week, the league announced the inaugural HDN all-sportsmanship team, which is the brainchild of SAAC and is made up of one student-athlete from each of the 10 participating schools.

Several honorable mentions also have been announced.

The all-sportsmanship team was chosen from the list of nominees provided by each member school after each of the fall, winter and spring seasons.

The winners were selected by the schools based on demonstrated principles of good sportsmanship, school and community service, and leadership.

According to SAAC guidelines, “The emphasis should be on recognizing individuals who embody the spirit of good sportsmanship and demonstrate leadership qualities, rather than solely focusing on athletic ability.”

All the winners receive an HDN sportsmanship gold star, an award certificate, and recognition at each school site.

SAAC is made up of two student athletes from each of the H-DNL schools, one boy and one girl and usually a junior and a senior.
