McFarland, several locals continue to impress for CR track team

Two weeks after setting a new College of the Redwoods record in the women’s hammer throw, former South Fork Cub Chase McFarland continued to set a blistering pace in the event at the weekend Pat Ryan Invitational in Santa Rosa.

The CR sophomore threw another state qualifying mark in the event, placing fourth with throw of 130’ 0”.

McFarland’s school record throw of 143’ 4” came at the Cody Beaumont Invite at Shasta College.

She wasn’t the only Corsairs to impress at the weekend meet.

CR’s Anna Grimmett and Aidan Davis each also had PRs in the 1500m.

Davis, a sophomore, placed 16th in the men’s race with a time of 4 minutes, 29.30 seconds, while Grimmett placed fourth in the women’s race with a time of 5:32.60.

CR’s Santino Thomas also set a PR in the men’s 800m with a time of 2:11.93.

A couple of other former Huskies also impressed in their events.

Russell Pascascio won the men’s high jump with a jump of 5’ 11”, while Malia Bolden placed  third in the women’s triple jump with a leap of 28’ 7”.

CR’s Disuuri Suidi also had a good day on his way to a 11th-place finish in the men’s long jump (18’ 7”), while Hoopa’s AJ Perez finished third in the men’s javelin (136’ 3”).

Former Fortuna Husky Luke Kamrud retured form a recent injury and set a PR in the men’s 200 meters with a time of 23.37 seconds on his way to placing 22nd.

Rounding out a good day for the Corsairs, Violet Cayton continued to impress in the women’s javelin and posted a state qualifying mark (102’ 11”) on her way to finishing second.

Cayton also placed seventh in the hammer with a throw of 124’ 11”.
