By Ray Hamill — One of four Saturday night North Coast Section basketball playoff games involving local teams has been canceled.

The Ferndale Wildcats were scheduled to host Victory Christian Academy but the Eagles have been forced to pull out of the game, handing the Wildcats a forfeit victory.

Ferndale High School was informed of the decision on Friday evening.

The Eagles are unable to make the trip because they have just four players available.

The Ferndale girls will now automatically advance to Wednesday night’s semifinals.

The Cats are seeded No. 1 in the Division-6 bracket and had an opening-round bye earlier in the week.

They will host either No. 4 Grace Christian Academy or No. 5 St. Vincent de Paul in Wednesday’s semifinals.

Three other games involving local teams will go ahead as scheduled on Saturday night.

The St. Bernard’s boys will host San Francisco Waldorf in Division-6 action, while the McKinleyville girls will play at Moreau Catholic in Division-2 action.

The Hoopa girls will also play at Sonoma Academy in the Division-4 bracket.
