By Ray Hamill — Dick Niclai tournament week is one of the most anticipated of the year in local sports and it rarely disappoints.
The action got under way with a pair of games on Monday, including an entertaining showdown at Ferndale High between the Wildcats and Hoopa Warriors.
The visitors would prevail 68-58, thanks in large part to a big performance by senior Brandon Romero, but the game remained in the balance for much of the night, as the Cats kept the pressure on their L4 rivals and battled hard to the end.

The Warriors will now play Big 5 champs Arcata in Wednesday’s semifinal at College of the Redwoods.
