The Cal Poly Humboldt women’s soccer program will begin celebrating a milestone achievement this coming spring.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the program’s inception to NCAA competition and the Lumberjacks are planning a year-long celebration to highlight three decades of student-athletes and coaches competing.

“This 30-year milestone in NCAA competition is a testament to the dedication of our athletes, coaches, and supporters,” Cal Poly Humboldt’s Executive Athletics Director Dr. Nick Pettit said. “We’re thrilled to celebrate this milestone and honor the legacy of our women’s soccer program at the NCAA level.”

Over the next year, the program will be profiling alumni who have both impacted the team and are making a difference in their careers and communities.

In addition to these profile features, the program encourages attendance at the annual alumni game and fall celebrations.

The alumni game will take place at College Creek Field on Saturday, May 3.

The program will also hold a Senior Day and Alumni Appreciation at a yet-to-be-determined date.

The Jacks athletic department is inviting alumni to participate in this celebration by nominating former players for the player profile series.

“We are excited to spend the next year honoring our women’s soccer alumni and celebrating 30 years as a program,” current head coach Grant Landy said. “I have really enjoyed getting to know a lot of our alumni over the past five years. They take a lot of pride in our program and the university as a whole.

“We have two great events planned this year and I hope all of our alumni will come back to celebrate.”

The Jacks began competing at the NCAA level in 1995.

Since then, the program has been a vital part of the university’s athletic landscape.

Program highlights over the years include an NCAA postseason berth in 1996, the first CCAA conference tournament appearance in 2006, as well as the most wins in a single season and first CCAA conference tournament victory in 2023.

The program has a total of five Humboldt Athletics Hall of Fame inductees and 97 all-conference recognitions.
