Cal Poly Humboldt Athletics

Tickets are now on sale for the 2025 Cal Poly Humboldt Athletics Auction, which will take place on Saturday, April 5, at the Sapphire Palace in Blue Lake Casino.

This year’s event will feature hall of fame inductees Alex Cappa and Robin Meiggs, who will share their experiences and contributions to Cal Poly Humboldt athletics and beyond.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and the program starts at 6.

Cappa, a standout offensive lineman for the Lumberjacks from 2014 to 2017, has achieved remarkable success in the NFL since his time in Humboldt. 

During his playing days with the Jacks, Cappa was a three-time All-American selection and four-time Great Northwest Athletic Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year. 

He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft and was part of the team’s Super Bowl-winning team in 2020. 

He currently plays for the Cincinnati Bengals and has started 97 games in the NFL. 

Cappa holds the distinction of being the highest NFL draft pick to ever come out of Humboldt.

And he has fond memories of his time in Arcata.

“I had some of the best times of my life at Humboldt playing football,” Cappa said. “I can’t wait to come back and be a part of this event. Go Jacks!”

Meiggs, one of Cal Poly Humboldt’s most decorated coaches, led the women’s rowing program for 25 years. 

Her impressive achievements include two NCAA Division II National Championships (2012 and 2014) and three Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association “Coach of the Year” honors.

In recognition of her outstanding career, Meiggs was inducted into the National Rowing Hall of Fame in 2023. 

Her legacy continues through the Robin A. Meiggs Scholarship Fund, supporting selected athletes on the CPH women’s rowing team for generations to come.

The annual auction is a fundraising event that directly supports student-athlete scholarships and the Lumberjack athletics programs.

In addition to the auction, Cal Poly Humboldt Athletics is excited to announce that a hall of fame reception will be held on Friday, April 4. More details about this event will be released soon.
