Cal Poly Humboldt Athletics – Jayson Victoria in action for the Jacks earlier this season.
One of the great local sporting traditions will return to the North Coast this weekend for the first time in decades.
On Friday night, the Cal Poly Humboldt men’s wrestling team will host an event when the Jacks welcome Simpson University to Arcata.
The night’s action gets under way at 6 p.m. and admission is free.
This will be the first time the Jacks hosted a wrestling event in 33 years after the program was recently brought back for the first time since the early 1990s.
The Jacks are 0-3 after losing early-season matchups to Menlo, Southern Oregon and Corban.
This is the only scheduled home event of the season for the team.
The match will take place at Lumberjack Arena.
The event is part of a busy weekend on campus for Lumberjacks sports.
The men’s and women’s basketball teams hosted Cal State San Bernardino in a conference doubleheader on Thursday night and they will host Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday afternoon.
Saturday’s women’s game gets under way at 1 p.m., followed by the men at 3.
