The Corsairs quickly bounced back from a disappointing performance on the basketball court against Santa Rosa on Friday night with a much-improved outing against Foothill on Saturday.

The College of the Redwoods men closed out the three-day Santa Rosa tournament with a 76-68 over the Owls.

Mason Mottashed scored a team-high 15 points in the win to help the CR men overcome a slow start to the game.

“Really proud of our guys for gutting out the win,” CR head coach Ryan Bisio said. “It’s really difficult to play your best ball on day three of a tournament. It’s more about grit and perseverance and we showed that.”

The Corsairs trailed 15-2 early on, but quickly grew into the game and held a 40-32 advantage at halftime.

And they did it with a balanced team performance.

“We received timely contributions all the way through the roster, which was important,” Bisio added. “Our bench supplied great energy and they sustained it.”

Ty Dahlin added 15 points in the win, while Brandon Lucas chipped in 10 points.

The Corsairs had 11 3-pointers on the night, and they closed out tournament play 2-1.

They are now 11-5.

“Overall, we had a successful weekend,” Bisio said. “We experienced every emotion imaginable and were able to finish the weekend hopeful, more realistic, and probably more confident.”

Next up, the Corsairs will travel for the San Mateo tournament, which tips off on Monday of next week.

They open the two-day tournament against the host school.
