Bear Cubs dominate the Corsairs at the Santa Rosa tournament

The Bear Cubs led wire to wire and dominated College of the Redwoods in a men’s basketball showdown at the Santa Rosa tournament on Friday night.

The host school won the game 80-61.

“This was a professional and comprehensive beatdown,” CR head coach Ryan Bisio said. “There wasn’t a millisecond of the game where we had a path towards a win.”

Santa Rosa led 45-33 at halftime and had 11 3-pointers in the win, while CR hit nine 3s.

Ty Dahlin led CR with 12 points, while Luka Radovanovic and Alfonso Medina each finished with 11 points.

“Santa Rosa’s preparation and execution were a great example for our players of what high level coaching and playing looks like,” Bisio added. “Hopefully we learn something valuable from this experience and continue aspiring to one day reach that level of sustained performance.”

The CR men, who dropped to 10-5, will try to bounce back when the close out tournament play against Foothill (3-11) on Saturday night at 6 p.m.

“Tonight we have an opportunity to prove we have a next play mentality and try to go into the holiday break with some positive momentum and something to build from,” Bisio said.

The CR women were also in action on Friday and lost 65-61 to Cabrillo in overtime.
