The Fortuna girls bounced back from their first defeat of the season with a victory over Marin Academy on Wednesday night.
After losing to Weed in the championship game of the Colusa tournament by just two points on Saturday, the Huskies opened a four-game road trip with a 46-34 win in Marin County.
The Fortuna girls, who improved to 5-1, will continue their road trip at the Healdsburg tournament, opening against Tamalpais at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The Huskies were missing some players because of sickness on Wednesday, but they overcame a sluggish start after the long trip on the way to the victory.
“The team battled through a slow start,” head coach Tom Chapman said after the win. “We have a few players out this week due to illness, but the girls dug deep to find the energy to finish out tonight’s game.”
Mariah Bravo scored a team-high 14 points in the win, while teammate Jorlynn Villalvazo added 12 points.
The Huskies finished strong at both ends of the court, holding the home team to just four points in the fourth quarter and closing out on a 14-2 run.
