Former Redwoods star among the top D-2 runners in the nation

Former College of the Redwoods athletes have been been making some serious noise at four years schools in recent years, especially those from the local community college’s cross country and track and field teams.

And that continued to be the case this past week.

Former Corsair Hannah Hartwell, who set several schools records during time competing for CR, is now competing at the Division-II level.

The outstanding distance runner is at Fort Lewis in Colorado and has been just as impressive for her new team.

Last weekend, Hartwell traveled to race in the NCAA Division-II national championships and placed fifth.

“Hannah is proof that College of the Redwoods is a great place to start your college running career,” Corsairs head coach Reed Elmore said.

Hartwell crossed the finish time of the 6K course in a time of 20 minutes, 34.9 seconds and was just six seconds out of top spot.
