The College of the Redwoods football team suffered its third loss of the season in a game that got away from the Corsairs on Saturday afternoon.

Playing at Siskiyous, CR fell 41-18 to close out the regular season 7-3.

The Corsairs led 10-7 at halftime and trailed by just three points heading into the fourth quarter (21-18).

But the home team would pull away late for the victory.

“Just all of a sudden it all fell apart,” CR head coach Jason White said. “They’re a blue collar team. They play really hard and we saw that on film. But we didn’t play well today. We made some fundamental mistakes.”

A Ryan Thomas field goal and touchdown runs by Jordyn Bowers and Isaiah Hemmings provided the only points of the day for the visitors.

“We made some first-game mistakes in the last game of the year,” the CR coach added.

Hemmings’ TD run was one of the few highlights of the day for the Corsairs after he hurdled over a Siskiyous player on his way to the end zone.

White described it as “probably his best run of the year.”

Despite the loss, the Corsairs remain bowl eligible and will find out on Sunday if they are to host or travel for a postseason game.

They are likely to face West Hills (6-4) in a potential bowl game.
